Synopsis
“Varisu” is a Tamil movie released in 1993. The movie was directed by R. K. Selvamani and features Sathyaraj, Khushbu Sundar, and Sujatha in leading roles. The movie is a crime drama that revolves around themes of justice, corruption, and integrity.
The story of the movie follows Thirumalai, a police officer falsely accused of a crime and sent to prison. During his incarceration, he uncovers a conspiracy involving a corrupt politician named Devaraj and a criminal named Kali. After his release from prison, Thirumalai sets out to expose the corruption and bring the culprits to justice.
Plot Overview
The movie “Varisu” revolves around the life of a man named Thirumalai (played by Sathyaraj). Thirumalai is a sincere and honest police officer who is known for his integrity and bravery. He is married to Sivagami (played by Raadhika Sarathkumar) and has two children. Thirumalai’s life takes a drastic turn when he is falsely accused of a crime that he did not commit. He is subsequently arrested and sent to jail, leaving behind his family and his reputation in shambles.
After serving his time in jail, Thirumalai is determined to clear his name and regain his lost reputation. He embarks on a mission to expose the real culprits behind the crime for which he was falsely accused. In the process, he discovers a web of corruption and deceit that runs deep within the police department and the political system.
Thirumalai’s journey to seek justice is not an easy one. He faces several obstacles and challenges along the way, including threats to his life and the safety of his family. However, he remains steadfast in his pursuit of truth and justice, and eventually succeeds in clearing his name and exposing the corrupt system.
Box Office Performance
“Varisu” was a commercial success at the box office, grossing over ₹10 crore (INR) in its theatrical run. The film’s critical and commercial success helped to establish Sathyaraj as a leading actor in Tamil cinema.
