Synopsis
Muklawa is set in the era of 1950 in a village named Muklawa. The story revolves around a newly-wed couple, Shinda and Taro, who await their muklawa – a Punjabi custom that allows the bride to visit her parental home one year after marriage. The couple has never seen each other before marriage as it was an arranged one. Hence, the movie portrays the efforts of the groom to see his bride’s face before muklawa.
Plot
The film takes us through the lives of Shinda and Taro and how they gradually fall in love. They face several obstacles on their journey, such as the muklawa custom and societal norms. The story also features the conflicts between the two families and how they overcome them.
Shinda’s family does not believe in the tradition of not seeing the bride before muklawa, which creates a significant conflict with Taro’s family. Taro’s father is not in favor of breaking the tradition and makes the situation even worse.
As the movie progresses, Shinda and Taro come up with a plan to meet each other without breaking any customs. The film takes us through the ups and downs of their plan and how they overcome the obstacles.
Characters
The movie has a cast of skilled actors who deliver an exceptional performance. Ammy Virk portrays Shinda, and Sonam Bajwa plays Taro’s character. Gurpreet Ghuggi, B.N. Sharma, Karamjit Anmol, and Nirmal Rishi are also part of the cast.
Ammy Virk plays the role of a devoted and loving husband who is determined to see his wife’s face before muklawa. Sonam Bajwa portrays the character of Taro, who is shy and hesitant in the beginning but eventually falls in love with Shinda.
Review
Muklawa is a visually appealing movie that beautifully showcases the essence of Punjabi culture and customs. The movie has an engaging storyline with a blend of emotions, comedy, and drama. The cinematography and music add to the overall appeal of the film.
