Synopsis
Baahubali: The Beginning is a 2015 Indian epic historical fiction film directed by S.S. Rajamouli. The film tells the story of a young man named Shivudu, who discovers his past and becomes the legendary warrior Baahubali. The movie was a massive success and became the highest-grossing Indian film of all time upon its release.
Plot
The movie is set in the kingdom of Mahishmati, where Queen Sivagami, played by Ramya Krishnan, is the ruler. The queen rescues a baby boy from the river and raises him as her own son. The boy is named Shivudu and grows up to be a strong and adventurous young man.
One day, while climbing a mountain, Shivudu sees a beautiful woman named Avantika, played by Tamannaah, and falls in love with her. Avantika is a member of a rebel group that is fighting against the king of Mahishmati, Bhallaladeva, played by Rana Daggubati.
Shivudu learns that he is actually the son of the late king of Mahishmati and the rightful heir to the throne. He decides to help Avantika and the rebels to overthrow Bhallaladeva and become the king of Mahishmati.
Box office collection
According to reports, the movie was made with a budget of approximately 180 crore Indian rupees (roughly $25 million USD) and it went on to gross over 650 crore Indian rupees (roughly $90 million USD) worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Indian film of all time upon its release. The movie was a huge success in India as well as in other countries like the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. It also received critical acclaim for its storytelling, performances, visuals, and music. Overall, “Baahubali: The Beginning” was a box office sensation and a major milestone in Indian cinema.
